Welcome To Tuckaway Farms

We have lived in Madison since 1979, raising three sons, two daughters, and an endless menagerie of pets. In 2003, with the kids all grown, we sold our huge 1912 house and bought a 12 acre farm down the road. We plan to retire here with our alpacas and Great Pyrenees guard dogs.

Jim has been in computer software sales since leaving the Navy in 1972. He has also served as a volunteer firefighter for most of his adult life, and enjoys competitive hand-gun shooting.

Judy is a writer and has worked as a magazine editor, graphic designer and an after-school program director. She is also an avid knitter who designs and hand knits all the scarves, sweaters and other items for sale at the farm store and on our website.

Owning a farm has long been a goal for us. We have found alpacas to be the perfect livestock for us now and as we move into our retirement years. Their small stature and gentle nature make them easy for us to manage by ourselves. Their needs are few and the rewards are many. We intend to keep our farm small so we can have daily interaction with each of our alpacas and our dogs.
